However, for a child of Irish origin, and surrounded by gifted parents and family, those were not innate traits. Maureen entered this loving haven located in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th of 1920. Marguerita Lilburn fitzSimons' mother was an contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this lovely family. Maureen was a natural athlete and was a fan of tough athletic games. Furthermore she was gifted acting. It was evident by her getting almost every Feis award for drama or the stage that her country had to offer. When she turned 14, the Abbey Theater accepted her and permitted her to pursue her dream in classical theater and opera singing.
